Open an image and move around it

Zoom, pan, rotate, flip, step through images, compare two side by side, and the keyboard shortcuts.

Tap or click a thumbnail to open the viewer. It fills the screen; Esc or the ✕ closes it.

Zoom and pan

  • Mouse wheel zooms about the cursor. On a phone or tablet, pinch zooms about the point between your fingers.
  • With the Pan / zoom tool (key 1), drag to move. With any other tool, drag with the middle mouse button to pan.
  • + and − zoom in and out. The percentage button shows the zoom and sets 1:1 pixels.
  • Fit (key f) fits the image to the screen.

Rotate and flip

Use Rotate left, Rotate right, Flip horizontal and Flip vertical on the toolbar. Staff changes are remembered for that image, so everyone opens it the same way. To set one orientation for every image on the job, see the Stitch & batch tab in Presets, batch view and your default view.

Step through images

Use Previous and Next, or [ and ] (or the arrow keys).

Compare side by side

The Compare side by side button splits the screen. Pick the second image from the list. The same window and filters apply to both. Link windows gives both panes the same absolute window; unticked, the second image keeps your adjustment relative to its own automatic window, which is better when exposures have different grey ranges.
